There can be very few more idyllic locations for a private dinner party, a reunion of old friends or colleagues, a special celebration, a Christmas party. This beautiful Jacobean manor house, that’s more home than hotel, provides a unique venue to celebrate all manner of occasions. It’s all so private and so relaxed, the manor house and grounds so sublime, the food so delicious, and the service so attentive and congenial.
Here’s what Matthew Norman’s restaurant review in The Guardian, including his comments on Plumber Manor’s ‘unwitting part’ in the 2008 US presidential election.
The vaulted dining room is fabulous for smaller parties, up to 22 during the day and up to 12 during the evening. This is like dining in the cellar although the room is on the first floor. The atmosphere is fantastic and contributes greatly to the enjoyment of all.
When you consider that Plumber Manor has been laying on private parties for over 400 years, it’s hardly surprising the house, now one of the loveliest of Dorset country hotels, feels so welcoming and guests naturally enter into the spirit of the occasion.
Country house parties in Dorset are one thing, a country house party in such a fine Jacobean manor house in Thomas Hardy’s beautiful ‘vale of little dairies’ quite another. Plumber Manor is also available on an exclusive use hotel, when the only guests are those invited by you. Exclusive use lunch parties as well as exclusive use evening celebrations are both possible.
Plumber Manor is also an idyllic location for an exclusive wedding reception. The magical, dreamy environment always provides the bride and groom, parents and guests with a thoroughly enjoyable, uniquely memorable day.
Plumber Manor will comfortably seat a party of 44 in the main dining room. However, the ground floor can comfortably accommodate up to 70 guests with a delicious buffet.
Plumber Manor is recommended by:
Michelin, The Good Food Guide, The Good Hotel Guide, the Best Loved Hotels and Johansens guides and is a member of the Pride of Britain consortium.
